On Friday, September 30, 2016, PART Express celebrated its 14th year of service to the Piedmont Triad. PART Express began in 2002 with three routes that served Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and High Point. Over the years PART Express has grown into a robust system that includes 12 bus routes and 7 shuttle routes reaching as far as Mt. Airy and Chapel Hill. In addition, the system still serves the three major urban areas and the airport area surrounding the PART Regional Hub.
Each year PART staff members plan a PART Express rider appreciation event to commemorate the anniversary. This year PART celebrated the anniversary in conjunction with Try Transit Week which ran from September 26th through September 30th. The week incorporated Group Buddy Rides, Fare Free Thursday, and culminated with a rider appreciation event on Friday to celebrate the anniversary. The celebration included prizes and a Chick-fil-a biscuit for each rider at the PART Regional Hub during the morning and lunchtime runs.
Next year will mark the 15th anniversary for PART Express and will be the first anniversary celebrated at the Coble Intermodal Transportation Center. This facility will serve as the new hub for PART Express routes and will open in early 2017. For more information about the Coble Intermodal Transportation Center visit www.partnc.org/coble/. PART Express looks forward to another great year of service and thanks all PART riders for making it successful!
