The highway will shut down this November and drivers should begin considering options for commuting to and from downtown. New and improved transit options are being developed with funding from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). Enhanced PART Express Bus Service

PART Express services are being enhanced during the Business 40 closure to reduce congestion in Winston-Salem. PART will increase service on Route 6 Surry County Express, Route 17 Kernersville/WS Express, and create a new Route 28 West Forsyth Express during the closure. View more information

PART will offer enhanced services being developed to start in October:

– Expanded Route 6 Surry Express (Serving Mt Airy, Pilot Mountain, King to Winston-Salem)
– Expanded Route 17 Kernersville/WS Express (Serving Kernersville to Winston-Salem)
– Adjusted Route 18 Kernersville/GSO Express (Serving Kernersville to Greensboro)
– New Route 28 West Forsyth Express (Serving Bermuda Run, Clemmons to Winston-Salem)

EMPLOYER SERVICES

PART will offer commuters a 50% discount on transit passes and a 50% discount for vanpool groups during the closure. Contact PART today to discuss how we can help develop, implement and market a program at your company, agency or organization. Employers located in the traffic relief zone that enroll in PART’s Employer Pass program will be able to offer employee’s a 50% discount on monthly or 10-Ride passes for the first year of construction. Enrollment is FREE!


Vanpool Program

The PART Vanpool Program provides eligible groups of five or more commuters with a 7 or 15 passenger van to use to commute to and from work. The month-to-month lease includes the vehicle, insurance, maintenance, gas, and an Emergency Ride Home. Find out more by clicking here or email vanpool@partnc.org.

Carpooling is a flexible rideshare arrangement between two or more individuals interested in commuting to and from work in the same vehicle.
