PART coordinated the completion of the Piedmont Triad Seamless Mobility Study. The study took approximately 8 months and included 12 fixed route, paratransit and community transportation systems from 9 counties. The study assessed all of the system’s services and functions then provided 54 recommendations for providing transit services more efficiently, effectively and seamlessly. The recommendations are designed to be implemented over a 5 to 10 year period. The overall goal is to create an enhanced experience for transit riders throughout the Triad. The study was funded through a $300,000 grant from the North Department of Transportation awarded to PART. PART facilitated the hiring of a project manager and participated in the study with other 11 transit systems. The final report was released in August 2008. Since that time PART has coordinated presentations of the report’s findings to 16 boards, council, agencies and authority. By the end of 2008 three of the groups had adopted resolutions of support to continue with implementation of the recommendations.
