  • Provide better customer service for passengers.
  • To reduce issues related to magstripe paper passes.
  • To speed up the boarding process.
  • To eliminate the current issues and expense of maintain GFI fare boxes.

Do I have to use TouchPass?

  • All passengers will be required to use TouchPass or pay with cash on the bus.
  • PART will stop selling magstripe paper passes in August so if you want to purchase a pass or use stored value, you will be required to use TouchPass.
  • If you have a magstripe paper pass PART will accept it on the bus until the end of the year.

When will TouchPass be available?

  • All passengers will be able to start using TouchPass June 17, 2019.
  • Passengers will need to download the Mobile App or receive a Smartcard, load money to their account, and they’ll be ready to ride.

When do I have to convert to TouchPass?

  • PART will be transitioning all passengers to TouchPass by the end of September 2019.
  • PART will stop selling magstripe paper passes online starting June 17, 2019.
  • PART will stop selling magstripe paper passes (including regional fare cards) starting August 5, 2019.
  • PART will stop accepting magstripe paper passes on PART Express buses and shuttles at the end of the year.
  • Remember you can always use cash on the bus!

What happens to Regional Fare Cards?

  • PART will no longer sell Regional Fare Cards beginning August 5, 2019.
  • PART will stop accepting Regional Fare Cards on PART Express buses and shuttles starting December 31, 2019.
  • PART will continue to work with GTA, WSTA, LINK and High Point transit to develop regional fare opportunities in the future.

How do I get the TouchPass Mobile App?

How do I get a TouchPass Smartcard?

  • Before July 22nd 2019, passengers must order the Smartcard online.
  • After July 22nd 2019, passengers can order the Smartcard online or pick one up from the CTC.
  • Do NOT punch holes, put markings, etc in your Smartcard!

Why do I need to create a TouchPass account online?

  • Passengers should register their TouchPass Smartcard online at to ensure that if their card is lost or stolen, PART is able to assign a new card to the account and you don’t lose any funds loaded to the card.
  • If you use the Mobile App, you have to create an account when you download the app. You’re already covered.

Can I use the Mobile App & Smartcard at the same time?

  • No. The system requires that you choose which method you prefer.
  • If you need to switch from the app to card or card to app, contact PART to change your account type.

Will PART still accept cash on the bus?

  • Yes! PART will continue to accept cash on the bus and provide change cards when necessary.

What about PART Fares & Passes?

  • PART will NOT be changing any fares or passes!
  • Riders will be able to continue purchasing a 31-Day or 10-Ride pass through TouchPass.
  • PART will now offer Stored Value, allowing passengers to load money to their account and pay as they ride.
  • PART will now offer a new program called PART Rewards that will cap how much passengers spend to ride on a daily or monthly basis.

What is Stored Value?

  • PART will now offer Stored Value, allowing passengers to load money to their account and pay as they ride.
  • Passengers can load a minimum of $5 and a maximum of $100 into their account.
  • Passengers that use Stored Value can take advantage the new PART Rewards program and have the amount of money they spend daily or monthly capped once they spend a certain amount.

How do I load my passes or Stored Value into my TouchPass Account?

  • Passengers can add passes or stored value to their account through the Mobile App, online at, or at the CTC (after July 22nd).

How do I load a benefit code that was provided by PART?

  • Watch this video to see step by step directions on how to load on your Mobile App or Smartcard.

What if I’m a Half Price Discount Rider and use TouchPass?

  • If you qualify to receive half price discount when you ride, you must register to receive the discount.
  • Passengers that qualify for half-fare will pre-register with PART online or at the CTC
  • PART staff will add a special code to the passengers TouchPass account
  • The special code will let the passenger pay half-fare when they tap their Smartcard or scan their Mobile App QR Code
  • Passengers that use TouchPass will no longer show proof of ID when boarding the bus.

What can I do with my TouchPass Account?

  • Passengers can set a variety of different account options including:
  • Auto-load for passes and stored value
  • Alerts for low balances or expiring passes
  • Profile change alerts
  • Monitor transaction history
  • Preset payment options
