What’s It Like to Ride PART? Ask Our Riders!

Posted on March 25, 2019 at 2:59 PM by Brooke Kochanski

For many people living in the Piedmont Triad, it’s hard to imagine getting around without a car. From our daily commute to visiting with friends and family, cars are simply a part of life in this region. But if you’re someone who regularly travels throughout the Triad, there are many reasons why PART Express or a PART Vanpool could be a more affordable, more sustainable and less stressful option.

But don’t take it from us — here’s what our riders have to say!

KennethPART Express rider Kenneth Hasty finds his daily journey to be enjoyable and full of energy, noting that “folks driving in to work alone are simply missing out.” He says that’s because of “the fun conversations we have, the contagious good spirits we all share and the relaxation we experience knowing we are in the safe, capable hands of our driver, Ms. Brenda.”

Living in Clemmons, he was thrilled when Route 28 gave him a direct line to downtown Winston-Salem, a place he loved visiting but found hard to reach regularly. In fact, he says he had been “waiting for at least 8 years to be able to ride a bus downtown. I am so excited you have established this route — thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Jennifer Chapman also appreciates that she “gets 1 ½ hours back in my day to catch up on emails and social media instead of driving in the traffic on US-52.” Because of PART, she spends her mornings and ride home each day on a comfortable bus with all the WiFi and power outlets she could need.

But for all the reasons to take PART (saving money, avoiding traffic, more sustainable), Kenneth Hasty has a philosophical outlook, too:

“Human beings aren’t built to be alone. The community that forms on each bus is a good sampling of folks that don’t mind sharing their day with someone else. We have a great deal of fun each day, and I always look forward to seeing the morning regulars and our driver.”

So whether you come for the WiFi and stay for the community, or just want to reclaim a bit more of your time each day, PART can help people all across the Triad enjoy a greener, less stressful daily commute.
